The Sunday Eucharist will be celebrated at 9:15 am followed by refreshments.
The other church in the parish is All Saints Northcote. The normal Sunday St James service is a Sung Eucharist. Usually, we use the Second Order Holy Communion that starts on page 119 of A Prayer Book For Australia. St James Thornbury uses the musical setting A New People’s Mass by Dom A. Gregory Murray. We sing hymns from Together in Song. The psalm is canted at each Sung Eucharist, led by a soloist with congregational response. The settings are mainly from New Psalms for Common Worship, edited by Colin Mawby. Normally a sermon is preached. Lay people read the lessons at the Eucharist, and lead the intercessions.
Morning tea is after the service in the foyer of the church. The parish uses a joint pewsheet to guide us through the prayers, responses and readings in the Eucharist.
