Regular activities and outreach
Morning tea and get together follow every celebration of the Eucharist, including on Thursday mornings, giving everyone a chance to meet informally and welcome new members. Parishioners of St James and nearby All Saints, Northcote also gather together for a pub lunch from time to time.
St James' parishioners are involved in outreach activities throughout the year. Regular activities include collecting food for the Anglicare food relief service at All Saints, Preston.
In winter we serve home-made soup after church once a month to raise money for Anglicare.
Every month we collect cooking oil for refugees.
For several years St James parishioners have visited local nursing homes at Christmas to sing carols to residents. One of our parishioners visits another aged care home ie Blue Cross Westgarth in Westgarth St Northcote.
Services are conducted at local nursing and aged care homes, including regular services at the Veronica Gardens aged care facility
The following activities are currently suspended due to Covid
We participate in Australia's Biggest Morning Tea with a cake auction and special morning tea to raise funds for cancer research.
We also operate a lay chaplaincy service visiting parishioners who can no longer get along to church.
